The Race Is On: Employers Have A Narrow Window to File EEO-1 Reports This Year

The EEO-1 reporting portal for employer submission of 2024 employee data opened on May 20, 2025, and closes on June 24, 2025. Employers with 100 or more employees must file sex and race/ethnicity employee data, sorted by job categories, within this narrow window. Most employers with contracts with the federal government are obligated to provide the same 2024 data if they have as few as 50 employees.

Filers should visit the dedicated EEO-1 Component 1 website at  http://www.eeocdata.org/eeo1 for detailed information on the filing requirements and this year’s filing process. The webpage states that failing to file by the deadline will result in employers being out of compliance with their legal obligations. The implication is that there will be no extension of the June 24, 2025, deadline.

The webpage is where employers will find links to additional information on this year’s filing process, including the 2024 EEO-1 Component Instruction Booklet. It is recommended that employers review the webpage and the current reporting booklet carefully. Given the various Executive Orders issued in recent months regarding employment discrimination, diversity, equity, and inclusion practices and policies, employers may find the webpage resources helpful in understanding the EEOC’s expectations of employers regarding data collection, use, and submission. They also highlight what may differ from past practices. The instruction booklet provides step-by-step instructions to ensure that the agency’s filing expectations are met.
