Many attorney organizations in the upper Midwest offer training and publications as continuing legal education (CLE) to keep lawyers up to date on legal requirements. The programs and publications are often available to non-lawyers.
Minnesota has been a national leader in CLE for many years and offers easy access to current employment law information for both lawyers and human resources professionals. An excellent example of the available resources is Minnesota CLE (www.minncle.org), a Minnesota State Bar Association subsidiary. Among its many resources are summaries of legal information through short Summary Guides and Legal Quicksheets offered at low cost to both lawyers and human resources professionals.
Currently, the organization offers 43 Summary Guides and Legal Quicksheets on employment law topics. Some of these are limited to Minnesota law and process, such as “Minnesota Unemployment Compensation Benefits” Legal Quicksheet and “Selected Employment Law Claims & Remedies in Minnesota” Summary Guide. The majority of the employment law Summary Guides and Legal Quicksheets, however, offer information applicable in multiple states.
