What is the EEO-1 report? It is an annual workforce data report collected by the EEOC from employers with more than 100 employees and federal contractors with more than 50 employees. Employers meeting these reporting thresholds have a legal obligation to provide the information. The agency uses the data for a variety of purposes including enforcement and research. The reports collect data about gender and race/ethnicity by job grouping. The information is shared with other federal agencies such as the Department of Labor. Although the data is confidential, aggregated data is available to the public. Last year, for example, aggregate EEO-1 data of identified federal contractors was released based on a Freedom of Information Act request.
