It was less than two months ago that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) closed the EEOC online filing platform for employer submissions of the 2022 demographic data known as EEO-1 reports. On February 26, 2024, the EEOC announced that the online portal will open for submission of 2023 EEO-1 reports on April 30, 2024. Employers will have from April 30th to June 4th to file their 2023 EEO-1 reports through the portal.
The EEO-1 Component 1 report is a mandatory annual data collection that requires all private sector employers with 100 or more employees, and federal contractors with 50 or more employees meeting certain criteria, to submit workforce demographic data, including data by job category and sex and race or ethnicity, to the EEOC.
Updated materials regarding the filing process are expected to be posted on EEOC website around March 19, 2024. These will include updated 2023 EEO-1 Component 1 Instruction Booklet and an updated 2023 EEO-1 Component 1 Data File Upload Specifications. The EEOC EEO-1 help desk, now named the Filer Support Message Center, will open on April 30, 2024.
