The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has announced that employers will not be able to begin filing 2022 EEO-1 reports until Fall 2023. On June 29, 2023, the agency posted the following notice on its website:
The EEOC is currently completing a mandatory, three-year renewal of the EEO-1 Component 1 data collection by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) under the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA). Accordingly, the EEOC has updated the tentative opening of the 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection to the Fall of 2023. All updates about the 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection, including the final opening date and opening of the Filer Support Message Center, will be posted to http://www.eeocdata.org/eeo1 as they become available.
This is a change from the EEOC’s January 2023 announcement that the 2022 data collection was to be opened in mid-July 2023. No deadline for completing data submission has been announced.
Private employers with 100 or more employees, along with most federal contractors with 50 or more employees, are required to make annual reports of their employment data to the EEOC. Component 1 data includes a count of all full- and part-time employees; sex and race/ethnicity of all employees; and job categories of all employees.
